Program to Raise Leaders for the Next Generation

On transitioning to a holding company structure in fiscal 2009, the Benesse Group launched a program to raise leaders for the next generation as part of its emphasis on the development of middle management, who are vital to the Group's sustained growth.

Globalizing Human Resources

The Benesse Group is recruiting and developing human resources who are capable of performing globally. Berlitz Corporation emphasizes development through practice, such as "in-house job posting system." Taking a medium-to longterm perspective, Benesse Corporation sends younger employees on overseas assignments to gain international business experience, in addition to assigning the personnel needed to expand business. Personnel for such assignments are selected through an open recruitment system and dispatched to Indonesia, Taipei, and JICA programs from fiscal 2014.

Benesse Corporation

Younger employees as well as the personnel needed to develop business operations are posted overseas. This serves the medium to long-term goal of giving them experience of working overseas. Employees are invited to apply for positions and the successful applicants are selected based on their ambition and motivation. The program commenced in the year ending March 2015, and employees have so far served placements in Indonesia, Taipei, and with JICA.

Open internal hiring in the Benesse Group

The group has an open internal hiring scheme to give employees the opportunity to work elsewhere within the group (up to one transfer between companies per year is allowed). The career experience gained by taking on the challenge of working at other companies is seen as contributing to personal growth. Successful applicants are determined through screening and interviews.
In FY2017, applications were sought for key and newly launched positions under medium-term plans.
