(*) The Lifetime Value Company was renamed the Women & Family Company in the FY2009.

Consolidated net sales in the Women & Family Company amounted to ¥27.4 billion, an increase of 3.8% over the previous year.

Although sales in some areas fell due to lower advertising sales and unit sales for publications such as Tamago Club and Hiyoko Club magazines, which address topics associated with pregnancy, childbirth and childrearing, and the Thank You! lifestyle magazine, sales rose overall. The main positive contributing factors were the February 2009 launch of Tamahiyo "befa!," a correspondence course for women and their families targeting women from the sixth month of pregnancy through the fifth month after giving birth, and the March 2009 launch of Happy Collection, which offers home lessons for working women in a variety of topics, as well as growth in the number of orders in mail-order businesses.

In terms of profit, the Company recorded an operating loss of ¥1.1 billion (compared to a loss of ¥0.7 billion in the previous year) due in part to expenses associated with the establishment of new businesses.

The Company decided in December 2009 to discontinue the Happy Collection business.
