Review of Fiscal 2010 Results

In fiscal 2010, the Language/Global Leadership Training Business Domain recorded consolidated sales of ¥53.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%.

Sales growth was attributable to healthy performance from Berlitz Corporation’s ELS business (support for those who want to study overseas), as well as recovery in the language/global leadership training business in Japan and Latin America. Sales were undermined somewhat by a stronger yen upon conversion from foreign currencies.

In line mainly with higher earnings accompanying the increase in sales from the ELS business, operating income rose by 144.8% year on year, to ¥0.7 billion.
