( Date of Birth:  April 4, 1953 )

Joined Kawasaki Steel Corporation in 1977, and moved on to The Boston Consulting Group 11 years later. In 1992 he was appointed General Manager of the Planning and Development Division at General Electric Japan, Ltd., and subsequently served as President and CEO of GE Yokogawa Medical Systems, Ltd. In 2005 he became a company officer of General Electric Company, and in 2007 took up the post of President and CEO at Novartis Pharma K.K. In 2008 he was concurrently appointed President of Novartis Holding Japan K.K. Since June 2009 he has served as Director at Benesse Corporation.
