It goes without saying that it is essential for Benesse to deal with environmental issues in order to achieve its ultimate goal, of “living well.” Therefore, environmental issues are one of the priority concerns of Group management. To guide the Group’s efforts to address this issue, in March 2008 Benesse revised its Environmental Policy, in an effort to better promote environmental education-an initiative that dovetails well with the Group's core operations. In addition to saving energy and reducing waste, therefore, Benesse is also focusing on activities that have a positive environmental impact, of which environmental education is just one example. In this way, Benesse hopes to have an influence on local communities, and on the children who will soon inherit this planet.
