Our Motivation in the Senior/Nursing Care Business
Benesse's foray into the senior/nursing care business coincided with the change in its company name. In many ways, this business is the embodiment of the Benesse corporate philosophy ? helping people to live well.
The guiding mantra of this business is to consistently provide the kind of services one would want for one's self and one's own family. Drawing inspiration from current Benesse chairman Soichiro Fukutake's own personal experience of providing nursing care for his grandmother, the Benesse Group believes that such care should be an extension of everyday life, and has embarked on its own unique path in nursing care.
Specific Initiatives
As an example of this vision, most of Benesse's more than 200 nursing care facilities are located in urban residential areas. Benesse also has six different nursing home facility brands to choose from. These options enable Benesse to meet requests not only with respect to the customer's physical condition but desired lifestyle, home location, price and payment method, allowing customers to select the most appropriate services for their needs.
Nursing home brands include rental deposit-based facilities Aria, Granny & Granda, and Bon Sejour, which emphasize livability; Clara and Madoka, where group care is a key feature; and the most affordably-priced option, Kokochi.
When residents move in, Benesse listens to how they and their families perceive the transition. The object is to create not care plans, but plans that support the residents in living their desired lifestyle and getting the most our of everyday life. As in their lives prior to the move, residents can pursue hobbies and enjoy time to themselves. By continuing to retain a sense of day-to-day living, residents will experience each day with a growing zest for life. This is nursing care as envisaged by Benesse. Occupancy rates at Benesse nursing home facilities remain consistently at around 95%, a powerful indication of the strong support from both residents and their families.

We pay careful attention to personnel systems and full training so that each staff member can work with pride for Benesse and enjoy a long career in the field. Staff members pursue various measures in their efforts to provide customers with high-quality services exemplifying their own personal approaches to care.
